Slowing down

Look at the birds in the tree outside your window. A wise man told a story about them and all the other animals on the planet. He explained how they blend in with their environment. Humans are the only animals that do not blend in to any environment. We create our own. This is very profound. We create our own environment! How is mine, how is yours? You create your body, your children, your house, your lifestyle, friendships, relationships, your own space. Are you kind to yourself? Are you gentle with yourself? Who knows you best? Would you like to have a piece of you removed because a doctor tells you that you don't need it and there's no way to fix it? Doctors don't study nutrition and the general feeling is that,if you cut out the bad bit, you can go back to your coffee and muffins next week and you can forget that this minor ugliness ever happened.  You never have to take responsibility that you caused this directly by pushing your body beyond its capabilities until it gave up. Message after message went unheard, or unnoticed, or quietened by some Solpadeine!
When we can't cut out any more bad bits because there's not enough of the organ left to function, that's when the kind and helpful Doc says " Sorry, I can't help!" Poor little broken body is left without expert help and it's usually then when the wake up call comes. What if I change my diet and lifestyle? At death's door, your body is given some reprieve. Nourishing food, time to relax, unburden, clear out years of gloop. And you may make a miracle recovery. People are amazed at you; still alive and you begin to feel fantastic, more energised, more alive, alert, fuzziness gone. It's a miracle!
Nearly there! Just a little more to the right..
It's not! It is giving the body what it has been asking for, allowing it to repair all the damage, fill up the holes and tighten the leaks. When the Titanic crew spotted the iceberg and put on the reverse thrusters, it looked like nothing was happening for a few minutes. The boat still moved forward. It takes time to reverse the damage & to see visible improvements. Your life-time is for you to use. It's not like money; you can't make more.
The good news is that as long as you're alive, there's an opportunity to change. Start small and create healthier habits. Cutting out all the things you love is the first mistake (yep, I tried that!) If you love coffee, try decaf. For sugary
